Bringing Education into Focus

Sharon Strong  —  Director of Christian Science Nursing Education

For more than twelve years Sharon Strong served Fern Lodge as Director of Christian Science Nursing.  During that time, her vision and her work duties included maintaining the high standard of Christian Science nursing for all patients at the facility, cherishing the patients (including their families, friends, and Christian Science practitioners), and offering a broad range of Christian Science nursing education for Christian Scientists in our community and also in South America.  Fern Lodge is expanding its education activities, and we are deeply grateful that Sharon has agreed to shepherd this process and help us continue moving forward.

As Rozanne takes over responsibilities of Director of Christian Science nursing, her primary focus will be on individual patient care and staff development. Sharon will continue on at Fern Lodge, and her new role will be Director of Christian Science Nursing Education.  She will focus on helping Christian Scientists understand and demonstrate the love of God in the ministry of Christian Science nursing as it is described in the Scriptures, in Science and Health, and in The Manual of The Mother Church.  Together Rozanne and Sharon are a spiritually inspired team, committed to the highest standards of Christian Science nursing and education.

Fern Lodge offers unique and valuable education opportunities, including instruction and experience at our facility, in individual homes and in branch churches.  Our understanding of the role of Christian Science nursing in the healing ministry of Church inspires us to reach out to Christian Scientists wherever they are.  Our goal is to help individual Christian Scientists to fulfill the Christian requirements of feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty and ministering to the sick.

When asked to comment on the fresh focus of the new Fern Lodge program, Sharon shared some of her vision for this new adventure.  She wrote, “The new Christian Science Nursing Education program at Fern Lodge promises to be full of fun and adventure!  It will debut in January 2012, and include a full year of classes, workshops for branch churches, refresher courses for on-staff and local Christian Science nurses, and trips to South America, where we continue to nurture the skills of devoted Christian Scientists who are deeply in earnest of serving their fellow church members’ needs.

Sharon Strong  —  Directora de Educación de Enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana

Por más de doce años Sharon Strong ha servido en Fern Lodge como Directora de Enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana. Durante ese tiempo, su visión y sus obligaciones de trabajo incluyeron mantener un alto nivel de enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana para todos los pacientes residentes en Fern Lodge, apreciándolos (incluyendo sus familiares, amigos y practicistas de la Ciencia Cristiana), y ofreciendo una amplia gama de educación de enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana para Científicos Cristianos en nuestra comunidad y también en América del Sur. Fern Lodge está expandiendo sus actividades de educación, y estamos profundamente agradecidos de que Sharon se haya comprometido en liderar este proceso, ayudándonos a seguir adelante.

Como Rozanne se ha hecho cargo de las responsabilidades de Directora de Enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana, su principal labor es el cuidado de pacientes individuales y encargarse del desarrollo del personal. Sharon continuará en Fern Lodge, y su nuevo rol será el de Directora de Educación de Enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana. Ella se centrará en ayudar a los Científicos Cristianos a comprender y a demostrar el amor de Dios en la doctrina de la enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana tal como se describe en las Escrituras, en Ciencia y Salud, y en el Manual de La Iglesia Madre. Rozanne y Sharon juntas, son un equipo de gran inspiración espiritual, comprometido con los estándares más altos de enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana y su educación.

Fern Lodge ofrece únicas y valiosas oportunidades de educación, incluyendo instrucción y experiencia en nuestras instalaciones, en casas particulares y en iglesias filiales. Nuestra comprensión de la función de la enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana en la doctrina de la curación de la Iglesia nos anima a llegar a los Científicos Cristianos dondequiera que estén. Ella escribió: “El nuevo programa de Educación de Enfermería de la Ciencia Cristiana en Fern Lodge promete estar lleno de ¡diversión y aventuras! Debutará en enero del 2012, e incluirá un año completo de clases, talleres para iglesias filiales, cursos de actualización para enfermeros/as de la Ciencia Cristiana de nuestro personal y del área local, y viajes a Sudamérica, donde continuamos nutriendo las habilidades de devotos Científicos Cristianos que están profundamente interesados en satisfacer las necesidades de sus semejantes.

“Los estudiantes de la Ciencia Cristiana que concienzudamente tratan de cumplir el texto y el espíritu del Manual de la Iglesia, “la/el enfermera/o de la Ciencia Cristiana”, pueden aplicar para los cursos en cualquier momento. El contrato podrá ser posible después de terminadas las clases, si es que hay vacantes en el personal y si las cualidades de la persona calzan con la ética de trabajo de Fern Lodge”.
