Cause for Celebration!
This year, 2017, marks the 50th year of Fern Lodge’s incorporation as a Christian Science care facility, devoted to demonstrating Christian Science healing. Much has changed in 50 years, and through all those changes Fern Lodge has been growing, and today it is stronger than ever.
Why celebrate 50 years?
It is a great opportunity to “gather in the good,” to remember blessings and healings, honor workers, appreciate growth, gain perspective, and continue moving forward! It’s like opening a drawer full of treasures—some hard-won, some messy, some glowing, some exquisite, some weighty—which collectively express Fern Lodge’s unique character. Pausing to recall the challenges and the victories, we are glad that “All the good the past hath had remains to make our own time glad” (Hymn 238).
How will we celebrate?
- We are gathering written recollections, reflections, impressions & healings shared by some of our long time and more recent friends.
- We are assembling a history of Fern Lodge in stories and pictures to share with the community.
- We will hold an Open House on May 20 — come anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a tour and to share in a day of music, food, & friends.
- We would love to hear how Fern Lodge has touched your experience. It can be a long or short statement about a healing you had or witnessed, a lesson learned, a person you remember, an insight gained, or an experience you wish to share. We will add your contribution to our display.

Parking at and near Fern Lodge, 18457 Madison Avenue, Castro Valley, CA 94546
There are some parking spaces at Fern Lodge itself. Additionally, as you approach Fern Lodge, the two neighbors immediately preceding Fern Lodge and the neighbor immediately after have graciously offered their driveways to visitors for this special occasion. Parking Assistants will be on hand to help in finding a spot. If a leisurely walk down a country lane bordering a murmuring brook would add to the joy of your day, parking on the street before entering Madison Ave is a great choice. (Fern Lodge is the fourth property in from Seaview.)
Lunch Provided (plus bonus potluck opportunity!)
A delicious lunch will be prepared for Open House visitors, from the grill and kitchen. If you would like to contribute a favorite dish, please feel free to bring it! Please put your name on any serving items you bring.
Children are welcome!
There will be a kid-friendly area with some children’s activities planned.
Annual Meeting in the Fall
Our Annual Meeting this year is planned for October 25. It will be an extension of our 50th year celebration. We will focus on fresh inspiration based on our years of experience in Christian Science nursing. Look for more information in our summer Fern Lodge Focus.

¡Causa para celebrar!
Este año, 2017, marca el 50vo aniversario de la incorporación de Fern Lodge como un centro de atención de la Ciencia Cristiana, dedicado a demostrar la curación de la Ciencia Cristiana. Mucho ha cambiado en 50 años y, a través de todos esos cambios, Fern Lodge ha estado creciendo y hoy es más fuerte que nunca.
¿Por qué celebrar 50 años?
¡Es una gran oportunidad para “reunirse en el bien“, recordar bendiciones y sanaciones, honrar a los trabajadores, apreciar el crecimiento, ganar perspectiva y seguir avanzando! Es como abrir un cajón lleno de tesoros: algunos que fue difícil conseguir, algunos desordenados, algunos brillantes, algunos exquisitos y otros de mucho peso. Todos estos expresan colectivamente el carácter único de Fern Lodge. Haciendo una pausa para recordar los desafíos y las victorias, nos alegra que “…lo bueno del ayer el hoy también viene a alegrar,…” (Himno 238).
¿Cómo vamos a celebrar?
- Estamos recopilando recuerdos escritos, reflexiones, impresiones y sanaciones compartidas por algunos de nuestros amigos más antiguos y más recientes.
- Estamos reuniendo una historia de Fern Lodge en historias e imágenes para compartir con la comunidad.
- Celebraremos una jornada de puertas abiertas el 20 de mayo. Todos son bienvenidos en cualquier momento entre las 10 a.m. y las 4 p.m. para un tour y para compartir un día de música, comida y amigos.
- Nos encantaría oír cómo Fern Lodge ha tenido un impacto en su vida. Puede ser una declaración larga o corta sobre una curación que tuvo o presenció, una lección aprendida, una persona que recuerda, una idea adquirida o una experiencia que desea compartir. Añadiremos su contribución a nuestra exhibición.

Estacionamiento
Estacionamiento en Fern Lodge y sus alrededores, 18457 Madison Avenue, Castro Valley, CA 94546
Hay algunos espacios de estacionamiento dentro de Fern Lodge. Adicionalmente, los dos vecinos que se encuentran antes de llegar a Fern Lodge, al igual que el vecino justo después del sanatorio, han ofrecido amablemente sus entradas a los visitantes para esta ocasión especial. Habrá asistentes de estacionamiento a su disposición para ayudarlo a encontrar un lugar. Si le agradase pasear tranquilamente por un camino rural que bordea un murmurante arroyo, una excelente opción podría ser estacionarse en la calle antes de ingresar a Madison Ave. (Fern Lodge es la cuarta propiedad desde la calle Seaview).
Proporcionaremos almuerzo (¡más una oportunidad de tener una comida compartida!)

Reunión anual en el otoño
Nuestra reunión anual de este año está planificada para el 25 de octubre. Será una extensión de nuestra celebración por los 50 años.
